ResMed: Commitment to Quality Care
This week I had the pleasure of visiting ResMed in San Diego California. This facility is extremely impressive from many aspects; large, modern, people and environment friendly, collecting much of it’s electrical needs through solar panels, and it boasts a very impressive private collection of art, intended to be an inspiration to their employees. Everyone I met was passionately excited about being part of the ResMed team, and I have to say, their excitement is very infectious!
As a bonus, I was able to attend a seminar where Dr. Ian Wilcox, Professor of Medicine, Sydney University, Australia discussed the dangers of even a mild level of untreated sleep apnea for patients prone to Atrial Fibrillation. I understand that these in-house lunch hour seminars, referred to as “Power Hour” seminars are a regular event at ResMed intended to keep the team up to date and connected with the most current literature. This facility is in keeping with what one would expect from a global leader.
I was not able to see the manufacturing process for the Narval CC sleep apnea appliance as that facility is in Los Angeles and not open to visitors. However, their dedication to providing the very best products possible was clearly visible at every turn of our private tour. Of course, over the years we have known ResMed to be a CPAP company, however, with the addition of the Narval CC sleep apnea appliance to their line up of products, this company has expanded it’s ability to offer quality, effective therapy to a much broader group of patients.
It was very exciting to see the evolution of ResMed products displayed in their lobby, including the Narval CC sleep apnea oral appliance prominently displayed as a current and relevant treatment option. I thank Kristie Burns and her team for their genuine hospitality. What was abundantly clear throughout my visit was ResMed’s commitment to quality care!
