Free Download : Dental Airway Protocol Checklist
Dentists are learning more about obstructive sleep apnea and its role in dentistry. With the large number of people suffering from some form of airway issues, and the related correlation of tooth wear from bruxism and GERD, airway screening in the dental office certainly makes sense.
There are many great courses being offered now on sleep disordered breathing with associated implementation and billing segments. When possible, have your staff attend with you. Most of the dentists that I have heard speak on this subject have their staff immersed in the day to day details.
If as a dentist you have attended one of the many courses offered on sleep disordered breathing and are passionate about including airway screening into your practice, be prepared for questions from your staff. I had the opportunity to experience this first hand, and have documented some of what the dentist and I learned from it. Here is a link to that article that include an airway protocol checklist that can be downloaded from the Whip Mix web site.
