A note of encouragement from CPAP user
“No one ever promised that getting used to CPAP therapy would be easy. Usually the most important things in life take work and perseverance. I’d like to share some thoughts and tips offered bya CPAP user who was my inspiration for developing a solution for leaks, skin irritation and discomfort.” – Bob Rutan

So…you’ve been diagnosed with Sleep Apnea. Good for you! It’s “good” because now you have knowledge of your condition. With knowledge comes power; power to improve your health, live longer, and enjoy a better-quality of life. As a successful CPAP user of 7 years, I’d like to share a few tips that have helped me wear my mask every night, and actually love it!
- Choose a mask that fits your face, and your individual specific needs. Mouth-breathers, folks with nasal sinus issues, or those on a higher pressure, may want to stay away from a nasal-only type of mask.
- Use a mask liner, such as RemZzzs® for a barrier. This will protect your skin from direct contact with the silicone mask cushion, avoiding discomfort, skin irritation and leaks.
- Apply a good facial moisturizer before putting on RemZzzs® and your CPAP mask. Healthy skin needs hydration, and the cotton liner will protect the mask cushion from the moisturizer, and help keep your mask in place.
- Keep a positive and determined attitude. Focus on how good you’ll feel to be more rested and energetic. I’ve heard that it takes only 21 days to establish a new habit. This can be your New Year’s resolution: 21 days to sleeping like a baby every night!
